Cecil Gillis, 89, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, December 31, 2018. A native and lifelong resident of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Gay and Vaughtie Anglin Gillis. He was also preceded in death by a brother: Max Gillis; and, a sister: Chloe Fields. Cecil was a US Navy Veteran and a 38 year employee of Glen Raven.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years: Juanita King Gillis; a sister: Betty Stafford of Burnsville; two nephews: Phillip Stafford and wife, Amelia, of Crabtree and Greg Stafford of Elizabeth City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday January 2, 2019 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Stacey Elkins will officiate with burial in the King Cemetery on Elk Shoal Creek.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
