Barbara Jean West

Barbara "Jean" McKercher Lamb West, 93, of Mars Hill, NC, and previously from Burnsville, NC and Louisville,KY, passed away peacefully on Thursday January 30, 2020.

She graduated high school in Louisville, KY in 1944 and completed one year of study at Georgetown College.

Jean was a faithful pastors wife to husband Elroy Lamb beginning in 1945.  Following his passing, she married G. Allen West in 1983.

Jean will be remembered for her love and devotion to God and her children as well as her grace, warmth, humility and amazing gift of hospitality.

Jean is survived by her two children and their spouses: Lisa and David Mauney of Burnsville, NC and Richard and Sandy Lamb of Monument, CO.  Five grandchildren and their spouses: Jennifer and Kent Smith, Donna and Jeremy Sink,John and Samantha Mauney, Tiffany and Justin Powell and Justin and Megan Lamb. Great grandchhildren Lydia and Sara Smith, David Sink, Layla Rose and Steven Powell and Elijah Lamb.  Also surviving are two step children and their spouses: Janet and Coy Dillard and George and Julie West along with their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father,  Lawrence McKercher and Jesse Van Ryper McKercher; first husband, Elroy Lamb;second husband, Allen West; sisters, Dorothy Butler, Margaret Blair, Betty Ader; and brothers; Bob and Bruce McKercher.

The family has entrusted Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home  with the arrangements.  A Graveside Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday February 8, 2020 at 11 A. M. at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Ky A family reception will follow. Kent Smith, husband of granddaughter Jennifer will officiate the ceremony.

An informal celebration with the family will be held at First Baptist Church from 3 until 4PM Sunday, February 2, 2020, in the Church Fellowship Hall.
