Barbara Jean (Miller) Haney

Barbara Haney, 77, of Scronce Creek, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 9, 2019, at Mission Hospitals Memorial Campus.  A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Ruby Miller,  and wife of Geter Haney who passed away in 2010.  She enjoyed digging ginseng and being in the outdoors.

Surviving are daughters:  Leisa Simmons and husband, Rodney, and Carolyn Byrd; and 2 sons:  Coy and Gene all of Burnsville; a sister; 2 brothers; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2PM Wednesday in Bee Log Baptist Church, of which she was a loving member.  Revs. Aaron Autrey and Kelly Bryant will officiate.  Burial will follow in Bee Log Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8PM Tuesday at Holcombe Brothers Funeral home, where the body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
