Alice J. Elkins, 83, of Indian Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Cranberry House. A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Wilburn and Rosa Lee Shepherd McPeters, and the wife of Hubert B. Elkins who passed away in 2015. She was also preceded in death by sons: Stanley and Timothy Elkins; grandson: Jessie Bailey; and son-in-law: Norman Bailey.
Surviving are a son: Gerald Elkins and wife, Carolyn, of Burnsville; daughters: Janet Morrow and husband, Theodore, of Unicoi, TN, Kathy Annas and husband, Marc, of Lenoir and Becky Bailey and Mike Yelton of Bakersville; grandchildren: Jarrett, Joshua, Amber, Jennifer, Thomas, Laura, Andrew, Landon, Jeremiah, and Evey; step grandchildren: Jason and Jennifer Hensley; great grandchildren: Analeigha and Konner; step great grandchildren: Levi Annas, Breanna and Jetta; sisters: Helen Lee Austin and Mary Will Garland of Burnsville, and JoAnn Goforth of Asheville; and a brother: Clifford McPeters of Burnsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday in Red Hill Baptist Church, of which she was a member. Pastor Randy Wise will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
